What is a Registered Social Worker?
A Clinical/Registered Social Worker is a person who has a Master of Social Work degree, who provides counselling services and who is registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, a regulatory board which exists to ensure ethical practice and protect the public interest.
Is counselling covered by insurance?
Registered Social Workers are often covered by work benefits, however, are not covered by OHIP or other universal benefits. Speak to your provider to find out what is covered.
Do you take direct billing?
I do not offer direct billing, speak to your work benefit provider about their process and expectations for certifications.
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes. A twenty minutes free consultation is available to you over the phone. It is an opportunity to ask questions, get to know me and how my practice works, as well as, the therapeutic models I use in my work.
What is your cancellation policy?
Yes, there is a cancellation fee of your session fee amount if 24 hours notice has not been given. There are exceptions when life happens where the fee can be negotiated.
Can you diagnose mental health conditions or gender dysphoria?
No. As a Registered Social Worker I do not have the training to diagnose mental health conditions or gender dysphoria. These diagnoses are done by Doctors: General Practitioners, Psychologists or Psychiatrists. These referrals are often given by a General Practioner.
